Contacting Clarington Council
Speak or Write.....How & When?

COUNCIL MEETINGS
Council meetings are generally held on alternating Mondays (ex. Holidays) in the Council Chambers located on the 2nd Floor of the Municipal Administrative Centre (40 Temperance Street) at 7:00 PM. These meetings include the hearing of public delegations and presentations dealing with the issues that are before the Council.

STANDING COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The General Purpose & Administrative Committee meetings are generally held on the opposite Mondays to Council Meetings. These meetings are held in Council Chambers and begin at 9:30 AM. The Committee deals with the majority of staff reports and mandatory public meetings (as required by the Planning Act).

  Minutes, Agendas and Reports for these meetings (Council and G.P.A. meetings) is available usually by the Friday before the (Monday) meeting. To write to Council:

To Appear before Council to speak on an issue:

DELEGATIONS

Members of the public who whish to speak to the GPA Committee and or Council are referred to as "delegations". The time you are given to speak is 10 minutes during the delegation portion of the meeting, which is near the beginning of the meeting.

To be a delegation you must register with the Municipal Clerk's Department by 4:30 pm on the Friday preceding the meeting. You may register by:

Note, meeting agendas are published as of noon on the Wednesday preceding the meeting.
Delegation requests received after the agenda is published but before 4:30 on the Friday preceding the meeting will be added to the agenda at the meeting.

If the matter is a statutory planning matter, no formal delegation is required for the General Purpose and Administration Committee (a report will be listed as having a Public Meeting attached to it).


General Purpose and Administration Committee

The General Purpose and Administration Committee meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Mondays (9:30 am) of each month; COUNCIL meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays (7:00 p.m.) of each month. These meetings are open to the public and are held in the Council Chambers located on the second floor of the Municipal Administrative Centre at 40 Temperance Street in Bowmanville. The last Council meeting of the month is televised live on Roger’s Cable 10.
